Blue Moon secures construction permits for Nevada tungsten project
Blue Moon Metals Inc. [MOON-TSXV, BMM-NASDAQ] has secured the permits needed to begin construction at its Springer Tungsten project in Nevada.
The move comes after Nevada regulators transferred the Water Pollution Control Permit and Reclamation Permit for the project into the company’s name. With the reclamation closure bond approved and posted, construction activities, including refurbishment of the existing mill have now been authorized.
The Nevada Division of Water Resources also approved the tailings storage facility Notice of Construction on August 18, 2026, following an independent third-party design review. The facility’s plans and specifications were previously approved by the Nevada State Engineer and are authorized under the project permits.
Blue Moon acquired Springer in February 2026 and is targeting initial production in late 2027. Upcoming activities include construction of the tailings dam, mill refurbishment and broader permitted site development. “Since closing the purchase of Springer in February, our team has worked swiftly and diligently to advance the project,’’ the company said in a press release. “With these permits in hand, we are ready to start construction and on-track for a late 2027 startup, bringing tungsten production back to the United States,’’ the company said . “Springer will bring jobs and economic growth to Pershing County, reduce U.S. dependency on tungsten imports, and marks an important step in Blue Moon’s growth as a critical minerals producer.”
Blue Moon shares advanced on the news, rising 5.05% or 35 cents to $7.28. The shares trade in a 52-week range of and $11.80 and $2.96.
Blue Moon is advancing five brownfield polymetallic projects, including the Nussir copper-gold-silver project, the NSG copper-zinc-gold silver project in Norway and the Blue Moon zinc-gold-silver copper project in Central California. The acquired Springer assets include fee lands and mineral claims containing a historically mined tungsten deposit with significant historical resources. The mill is equipped with an Ammonium Paratungstate circuit incorporating an autoclave and associated reagent systems.
Blue Moon said it is working on a plan to accelerate confirmatory drilling to update the historical resources to support the redevelopment plan. It said the Springer Mine has the potential to supply a significant amount of the United States’ tungsten needs. “The acquired assets are a key cornerstone and will support our long-term growth strategy of building a critical metals hub and spoke model in the United States,’’ the company said.
Blue Moon recently released assay results from its maiden bulk sample at the past-producing Apex germanium-gallium-copper mine in Utah.
“This initial sample program represents the first results following the closing of the acquisition of Apex from a subsidiary of Teck Resources Ltd. (TECK.B-TSX, TECK.A-TSX, TECK-NYSE) on March 16, 2026.
