Vizsla Copper shares up 14% on high-grade copper drilling news
Vizsla Copper Corp. [VCU-TSXV, VCUFF-OTCQB, 97E0-Frankfurt] shares rallied Wednesday after the company announced initial drill results from its recently completed summer 2026 drill program at the Woodjam Project in central British Columbia.
The company said copper mineralization intersected in drill hole DH26-136 at the Deerhorn deposit represents the longest high-grade copper intersection drilled to date at the Woodjam project.
The recently completed 6,055-metre, 11-hole drill program at Woodjam included three drill holes at the Deerhorn deposit (DH26-134, DH26-136, and DH26-137). The drill holes evaluated the extent and grade continuity of mineralization hosted within a historical inferred resource estimate of 32.8 million tonnes of 0.22% copper and 0.49 g/t gold. The Deerhorn estimate is a historical estimate within the meaning of National Instrument 43-101 standards of disclosure for mineral projects.
Vizsla Copper shares advanced on the news, rising 14.3% or 19 cents to $1.52. The shares trade in a 52-week range of $2.68 and 75 cents.
Drilling highlights include hole DH26-136 which evaluated the eastern portion of the Deerhorn deposit and intersected two main intervals of strong porphyry-related mineralization.
DH26-136 hit a lower interval of significant high grade copper mineralization, returning 266.0 metres of 0.97% copper, 0.06 g/t gold and 4.29 g/t silver from 306 metres down hole, including 107.7 metres of 2.01% copper, 0.13 g/t gold, and 8.61 g/t silver from 320.5 metres down hole, including 48.5 metres of 3.32% copper, 0.23 g/t gold, and 16,59 g/t gold from 320.5 metres down hole.
Results included a near-surface, broad interval of copper-gold mineralization: 129.9 metres of 0.30% copper, 0.21 g/t gold, and 0.94 g/t silver from 70.1 metres down hole, including 50.0 metres of 0.46% copper and 0.40 g/t gold and 1.43 g/t silver from 150 metres down hole.
The company said a program of core-logging and subsequent 3D modelling of all historical drill core from the eastern Deerhorn area will commence once all pending assays are returned. This focused geological and structural model will inform follow-up drilling aimed at evaluating the potential extent and continuity of this emerging zone of high-grade copper mineralization.
Drilling at the Poplar and Palmer projects is ongoing. Two drill rigs are operating at each project and evaluating priority copper targets. Assay results remain pending from Poplar due to extended laboratory turnaround times. However, the company said results are due to be released in the coming weeks. Palmer is a VMS project located in southeast Alaska.
The 44,200-hectare Poplar project in central B.C. covers Mesozoic-aged arc-related volcanic, sedimentary and intrusive rocks considered prospective for porphyry-related copper and gold mineralization. The company has focused on the Thira target, which is centred approximately 10 kilometres south of the porphyry-related Poplar copper-gold deposit (historic mineral resources of 152.3 million tonnes at 0.32% copper, 0.09 g/t gold indicated and 139.3 million tonnes at 0.29% copper and 0.07 g/t gold inferred).
