Lawson Natural Hydrogen Discovery Returns Most Significant Interval to Date, Drilling Steps Out 30 km
Third well of MAX Power’s commercial validation drill program has been completed, featuring the highest Natural Hydrogen readings to date at Lawson while the depth extent of a major conduit for potential gas migration has yet to be determined.
With developments at Lawson 4 and MAX Power now stepping out 30 km to drill Lawson 5, the commercial validation program is scaling up and accelerating toward near-term comprehensive completions testing aimed at confirming the world’s first large-scale commercial discovery of a new primary energy source.

MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FSE: 89N) (“MAX Power” or the “Company”), further to its September 8, 2026 news release, is pleased to provide the following exploration and operational update from its Lawson Natural Hydrogen Discovery in south-central Saskatchewan where the Company has delineated Canada’s first subsurface Natural Hydrogen system.
Highlights
- Highly prospective zone: A 20.5-meter interval with evidence of strong permeability and porosity was intersected between 2,290 meters and 2,310.5 meters (measured depth) in the basal Cambrian Sandstone unit, immediately above the Precambrian basement complex and a deep crustal fault (conduit) believed to be sub-vertical in orientation.
- Best readings to date: The above 20.5-m section was cored (96.6% recovery) and featured increasingly elevated Natural Hydrogen readings including the highest recorded to date at Lawson, based on drill rig gas detection equipment.
- Exotic terrane source rocks continue: The next 30.9 meters (2,310.5 m to 2,341.4 m) was also cored, for a total core interval of 51.4 meters (98% recovery), and included very elevated Natural Hydrogen readings and highly favorable mafic-ultramafic source rocks.
- Key structure: The dip, strike, and extent of the crustal fault (conduit) beginning at 2,310.5 meters remains unknown – upcoming core analysis will greatly assist in evaluating this important structure, while GLJ is also reviewing geophysical data.
- Valuable new data: The Company’s evolving geological model indicates that the relationship between the basal Cambrian Sandstone (lowermost Deadwood Formation) and the Precambrian basement complex may provide an important combination of gas migration pathways, reservoir development, structural trapping and seal integrity.
- Multiple zones: From the helium-dominant Interlake Formation (first cores recovered from the Interlake at Lawson between 2,001 meters and 2,031.6 meters, 97% recovery) to the Precambrian basement complex, Lawson 4 has returned multiple zones of interest for both Natural Hydrogen and Helium with the well completed to a total measured depth of 2,400 meters.
Mr. Steve Halabura, MAX Power Chief Geoscientist, commented: “Lawson 4 is a discovery within a discovery, and we eagerly anticipate perforations and comprehensive completions testing at this well and the others to determine potential commerciality of the Lawson Complex. As our understanding of this system accelerates, we are confidently stepping out 30 km to the ‘Salt Wall’ flanking the Prairie Evaporite where our robust geological model gives us plenty of encouragement.”
Lawson 5 Will Test Potential 30-Km Extension of Natural Hydrogen System
Drilling preparations for Lawson 5 are underway. This major step-out before the start of the completions program will test the potential up-dip extension of the Lawson Natural Hydrogen system all the way to the “Salt Wall”, an ideal trap and seal flanking the Prairie Evaporite approximately 30 km to the northeast.
Mr. Ran Narayanasamy, MAX Power CEO, added:“The potential scale of the Lawson Discovery continues to reinforce the geological power of Saskatchewan, the world’s leader in uranium and potash. We have hit on each of the first four wells at the Lawson Complex, all within about 2 km of each other, but this is just a fraction (0.001%) of the broader 1,224 sq. km Lawson permit area. The Lawson Project at 1,224 sq. km represents also just a fraction of the 475-km MAX Power dominated Genesis Trend. And Genesis is just one trend of several we have identified including Grasslands where the Bracken well, 325 km to the southwest, encountered multiple Natural Hydrogen and Helium zones and displays similar characteristics to the Lawson Discovery. This is MAX Power’s first mover advantage.”
Why This Matters to Investors
Lawson is progressing from geological discovery through reservoir evaluation and commercial validation. Earlier drilling established the presence of Natural Hydrogen across successive wells and began defining what MAX Power interprets to be a potentially interconnected subsurface system. Lawson 4 adds an important new dimension, including a major conduit that could be part of a network of deep crustal faults and associated splay faults extending across a broad area.
Geologically, the result is particularly compelling because a potentially prolific basal Cambrian Sandstone interval sits immediately above the Precambrian basement complex and the major deep crustal conduit encountered in Lawson 4. Together with prospective mafic-ultramafic basement rocks, intense fracturing, hydrothermal alteration, very elevated Natural Hydrogen readings and the broader trap-and-seal architecture, MAX Power is beginning to assemble an increasingly integrated model linking potential Natural Hydrogen generation, migration, accumulation and deliverability.
The next questions are increasingly commercial: Gas composition, sustained flow, reservoir connectivity, volume and ultimately economic deliverability. Comprehensive completions testing and independent evaluation will begin addressing those questions, while the next well represents the Company’s largest step-out yet at Lawson – approximately 30 km northeast toward the ‘Salt Wall’.

MAXX LEMI Update: Exploration Model to Commercial Platform
The success of MAX Power’s drilling program at Lawson is providing an important real-world demonstration of the exploration framework behind AI-driven MAXX LEMI (Large Earth Model Integration). By integrating proprietary drilling, core, seismic, geophysical and geological data with extensive legacy datasets, MAXX LEMI is being developed as an increasingly sophisticated exploration model and tool for identifying, ranking and advancing prospective Natural Hydrogen systems.
As the Company continues to expand its proprietary dataset through drilling at Lawson and across the Genesis Trend, management believes the potential value of MAXX LEMI could extend well beyond the Company’s own exploration portfolio. With Natural Hydrogen rapidly emerging as a new global energy frontier, MAX Power is evaluating pathways through which its exploration intelligence, methodology and technology could ultimately be deployed and monetized across the broader industry.
Potential commercialization pathways under consideration include technology licensing, subscription or platform-based access, technical and exploration services, strategic partnerships, and participation in third party discoveries through joint venture, carried interest or other value sharing structures. No specific commercialization model has yet been adopted, and the Company expects to provide further details as this strategy advances.
The opportunity is potentially twofold: MAX Power is working to define and commercialize Natural Hydrogen systems while simultaneously building the exploration intelligence designed to help find the next ones. As the Company’s proprietary dataset and exploration model continue to grow, MAXX LEMI has the potential to evolve into a scalable intelligence platform, extending the knowledge developed at Lawson across the Genesis Trend and, ultimately, to Natural Hydrogen exploration globally. This creates the potential for MAX Power to participate not only in the value of the systems it discovers, but in the broader industry’s search for the next generation of Natural Hydrogen systems.
