Copper Giant secures development framework for Colombia project
Copper Giant Resources Corp. [CGNT-TSXV], working with the Colombian Government, has secured a long-term development framework for its Mocoa copper-molybdenum project in southern Colombia.
The company said the Colombia National Mining Agency has approved the integration of mining titles FJT-131 and FJT-141 into a single unified concession, resetting the concession to a new exploration stage. The integrated title contains no forestry reserve or protected area overlap, and the current mineral resource estimate is fully contained within the concession and unaffected.
The company said it has successfully mobilized a third drill rig to the Mocoa Project, increasing total active capacity to three rigs as part of a fully-funded 2026 exploration program. This expanded capacity is expected to accelerate drilling rates and provide flexibility to advance resource conversion, expand the current mineral resource estimate footprint, and test high priority targets across the broader district, reflecting the company’s continued confidence in the growth potential of this clustered porphyry system.
Copper Giant shares moved lower Tuesday, easing 1.5% or $0.01 to 64 cents. The shares trade in a 52-week range of $1.00 and 14.5 cents.
Copper Giant is an America’s-focused exploration company with a collection of porphyry copper deposits located in British Columbia, Argentina and Colombia.
With backing from financier Frank Giustra’s Fiore Group, Copper Giant is developing the Mocoa copper-molybdenum porphyry deposit, which is located 10 kilometres from the town of Mocoa. The company’s district scale holdings cover 1,000 square kilometres, an area that is 290 times bigger than New York’s Central Park. Company documents say Giustra holds an 11% stake in the company.
The Mocoa project has an established resource of 4.6 billion pounds of copper and 511 million pounds of molybdenum. The company has said it sees the potential to “double – almost triple” – the existing resource at its Mocoa copper-molybdenum porphyry project. Drilling to date has delineated continuous copper and molybdenum mineralization to depths exceeding 1,100 vertical metres.
In a news release on October 22, 2025, the company said it has hired Apex Geoscience Ltd. to prepare a new mineral resource estimate for Mocoa. More recently, the company said it plans to complete approximately 23,000 metres of high-impact directional drilling this year. The aim is to advance the project to a level of technical confidence that will support a future preliminary economic assessment (PEA)-leval evaluation. The primary aim is to expand the current mineral resource estimate footprint and test new target areas.
In accordance with the requirements of National Instrument 43-101 standards of disclosure for mineral projects, Copper Giant has established the exploration target for the Mocoa Project. The target ranges from approximately 977 to 1,247 million tonnes of mineralized material, grading between 0.31% and 0.38% copper and 0.039% molybdenum. The company said these figures are conceptual in nature and based on limited drilling and geological modeling.
