Torex Gold name change reflects diversification strategy
Torex Gold Resources Inc. [TXG-TSX, OTC-TORXF] said it has changed its name to Torex Resources Inc. as approved at its most recent annual and special meeting of shareholders. Torex common shares will commence trading under the new name and stock ticker symbol TXR on the Toronto Stock Exchange at the start of trading on November 3, 2026, at which time the company will also launch its new website and refreshed branding.
“The transition of our name to Torex Resources reflects the ongoing growth and evolution of our business as we continue to successfully execute against our strategy,’’ said Torex President and CEO Andrew Snowden. “While gold remains the core focus of our business, the successful ramp-up at Media Luna has broadened our production profile to include meaningful volumes of silver and copper, with an annual production outlook of 2.5 to 2.8 million ounces of silver and 70 to 75 million pounds of copper.’’
Torex is an intermediate gold producer, engaged in development and exploration at its 100%-owned Morelos Gold Property, which covers an area of 29,000 hectares in the Guerrero Gold Belt, about 180 kilometres southwest a of Mexico City.
Within the Morelos Gold Property, the company’s principal assets are the El Limon Guajes (ELG) Mining Complex, which consists of the El Limon, Guajes and El Limon Sur open pits (the ELG Open Pits), The El Limon Guajes underground mine, including zones referred to a Sub-Sill and El Limon Deep (ELD) and the processing plant and related infrastructure.
Torex has reached the commercial production stage at its Media Luna mine which is located on the same concession as The Guajes, El Limon and Sub-Sill deposits.
“Beyond Morelos, alongside a portfolio of exploration projects in Mexico and the United States, our growth pipeline includes the gold-silver Los Reyes Project (in Mexico), where silver is expected to account for approximately 30% of the mine’s revenue,” Snowden said. “Together these assets provide a strong platform for disciplined, long-term growth across multiple jurisdictions. The change of our name also comes as we continue to broaden our presence in global capital markets, including our intention to list on the New York Stock Exchange. Collectively, our new corporate name, refreshed brand, and expanded market presence better reflects the company’s progress towards becoming a diversified, Americas-focused, precious metals producer.’’
The Los Reyes project is a highly prospective, advanced exploration/development-stage asset hosting a combined underground and open-pit mineral resource of approximately 1.5 million ounces of and 54 million ounces of silver in the indicated category and 538,000 ounces gold and 21.6 million ounces of silver in the inferred category.
On Thursday, Torex shares eased 2.7% or $1.33 to $47.66. The shares trade in a 52-week range of $62.56 and $32.30.
